Full form of MBBS

"Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery is the full form of MBBS". MBBS is a specialized bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery awarded by medical schools and universities. However, as the name suggests, the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery are two different degrees that are combined in one field and awarded together during practice.

The duration of MBBS course includes internship period which is 5 – 6 years. Upper secondary school students who have studied science subjects such as chemistry, physics, biology and English can apply for this curriculum. It is considered as one of the best courses in the world and in the career path, after completing MBBS, an individual legally turns into a doctor.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed the higher secondary or 12th grade or pre-university qualifying examination with a science subject i.e. Chemistry, Physics, Zoology and Botany.
  • Individuals should also study English as a key subject for their qualifying examination.
  • In addition, candidates must also comply with the age restriction requirements, i.e. at the time of the enrollment and also must have reached the age of seventeen.
  • As per the MCI (Medical Council of India), which is the MBBS body, there are some additional eligibility requirements.
