Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Information Technology  (CSIT) is a four-year course offered by Tribhuvan University that aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of information technology and computing. In Nepal, there are currently 57 colleges that offer the CSIT programme.

In addition to traditional lectures, the CSIT programme includes a significant amount of practical and project work. The programme teaches the fundamental principles of computer science and information technology and demonstrates how they can be applied to real-world problems. This programme fosters the development of skills required by both computer professionals and IT specialists.

Overview

Computer science and information technology (CSIT) are one of the most popular engineering courses. Every student wishes to study computer science or information technology as part of their engineering programme. B.E. Computer science and IT is even more advantageous because it combines the benefits of both fields.

It is relatively simple to find employment in the IT sector after completing this course. This course is offered at the majority of the country's engineering colleges. To gain admission to the top colleges, students must excel in entrance exams and excel in their studies.

When compared to the traditional computing environment, the design and implementation of the CSIT course presents new challenges. The recent emergence of global business, new data processing technologies, and a data communication / networking environment enable specialized science graduates to focus on professional careers in information technology.

The. CSIT programme provides students with sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge to enable them to effectively participate in the solution of complex problems in the IT industry.

The design and implementation of. CSIT course presents additional challenges when compared to a standard computer environment. The recent rise of global commerce, as well as new data processing and data communication/networking technology, have prepared specialized scientific graduates to pursue professional positions in Information Technology.

The. CSIT curriculum prepares students theoretically and practically to actively participate in the solution of difficult IT industry problems.

The CSIT program's goal is to prepare students for careers in information technology. After completing this degree, a student will be able to develop real-world e-media products or build technological solutions to hardware and software challenges, depending on the chosen area of focus and electives.

Why do students prefer the CSIT programme? Why should students learn about it?

We live in the twenty-first century, and everything revolves around technology. In today's society, information is king, and information technology (IT) influences every aspect of human life.

Businesses rely on information technology to increase productivity. This is a career that benefits any company by allowing them to work more efficiently and productively. It also brings with it faster communication, electronic storage, and document security.

Students should study CSIT because it allows them to take their careers in a variety of directions. Students can train to be computer network architects, computer programmers, computer systems analysts, database administrators, information security analysts, information architects, web developers, and many other careers.

In what ways are you advertising  CSIT?

We usually hire experts to teach students both conceptual and practical knowledge based on the curriculum. We offer hands-on experience in IT domains such as networking, software programming, database efficiency, web development, and much more.

The new teaching pedagogy is being implemented, which includes bringing in guest lecturers on occasion, organizing annual IT events, holding workshops, taking students on field trips, organizing industry-academia meet-ups, and so on.

The most exciting project we are working on is conducting a market survey to better understand IT demands and needs in order to provide our students with not only the knowledge of the syllabus but also with some of the valued added courses such as Python programming, Android training, and various other personality development skills.

Structure of the Curriculum

The CSIT curriculum is designed to closely resemble the courses taught in accredited international universities and institutions, with the caveat that the intake students must have completed twelve years of schooling in the science stream or equivalent from any university recognised by Tribhuvan University.

In addition to core computer science courses and electives, the programme offers service courses to meet the demand for high-tech applications.

The foundation and allied courses are designed to meet the requirements of undergraduate academic programmes, while the service courses are designed to meet market demand and rapidly changing computer technology and application.

Students enrolled in the four-year CSIT programme must take courses in computer software design and implementation, information technology, the theoretical model of computer science, and the functional background of computer hardware.

The entire course is completed in four years, divided into eight semesters. The first year is the same for all engineering branches, and you will learn about disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and electronics, as well as basic workshop practises.

B.E.

Stream:

Engineering

Course Category:

  • Computer
  • Information Technology

Duration:

4 years

You begin studying your core subjects in computer science and information technology in your second year. Even though the two fields appear to be similar to the untrained eye, they are not. More specifically, computer science is concerned with computer applications, operating systems, software development, coding, programming, systems engineering, and web development.

Computer scientists know how and why computers work. Information technology, on the other hand, is more concerned with the applications of computer science and engineering. An IT professional is more concerned with technological advancement.

They work in fields such as information security, network engineering, database management, and day-to-day network, LAN, and communication system maintenance. During the engineering programme, you will have the opportunity to complete an internship at a relevant industry or IT firm.

Job prospects and opportunities

CSIT graduates have a bright future in a variety of government, non-government, private, and public organizations such as software companies, telecommunications companies, computer networking companies, and so on, particularly as:

  • Software Developer
