Full form of CBSE

"Central Board of Secondary Education" is the full form of CBSE. CBSE is India's national education board for both the private and public schools, operated and regulated by the Indian Union Government. CBSE requires all affiliated schools to adopt the NCERT syllabus only. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and more than 220 CBSE-affiliated schools in 28 international countries. History of CBSE

  • In 1921, the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education was the first established in India, which was under the control of Central India, Rajputana and Gwalior.
  • In 1929, the Government of India established a joint board known as the Board of High School and the Intermediate Education.

Eligibility Criteria

The test conducted by CBSE for tenth-class students is called AISSE, while the test is called AISSCE for class 12th students. CBSE also conducts the National Eligibility Test (NET) annually to recruit teachers.

  • Only students enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools can appear for the AISSE Class 10th and AISSCE Class 12th exams.
  • For the NET exam, students who complete their Master's through an aggregate of more than 55 percent from a board or university recognized by the UGC in social sciences, humanities, etc., may be subject to CBSE regulations.

  • To recommend and modify CBSE exam instructions or guidelines.
  • Must affiliate with those institutions that meet CBSE criteria.

CBSE Regional Office

Following are the few CBSE regional offices-

  • Delhi – This covers the NCT of New Delhi and Foreign Schools.
  • Chennai – This includes Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
  • Guwahati – Which covers Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim.
  • Bhubaneswar – Which includes West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
  • Ajmer – Which provides for Gujarat and Rajasthan.
  • Panchkula – This covers Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir.
  • Patna – Which covers Jharkhand and Bihar.
  • Dehradun – Which covers Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
  • Thiruvananthapuram - Which covers Lakshadweep and Kerala.

CBSE FULL FORM

Examinations conducted by CBSE Board

  • Every year the CBSE holds the final exams for students in 10 and 12 classes.
  • Every year CBSE conducts JEE exam. It is a competitive exam for admission to undergraduate architecture and engineering courses all over the India.
  • CBSE also conducts the final year NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), a competitive test for entry to the major medical colleges throughout the India.
  • It also performs annually CTET (Central Teachers Eligibility Test) to hire teachers for the central educational school.
  • CBSE is responsible for appointing professors at colleges and universities by NET (National Eligibility Test) examination.
