Ayurveda
As the name suggests, Ayurveda means the understanding of life and longevity. The Ayurveda system has its roots in Vedic times. This system follows a completely herbal method of healing and over time has gained a lot of attention around the world. In Sanskrit, the term Ayurveda means "science of life". This science has existed in India for more than the 5000 years. The medical techniques of Ayurveda are believed to have been passed down from the heavenly gods to mankind and are still valued as of utmost importance in the field of medical science and medicine. The two main Samhitas on which the Ayurveda is based are Sushruta Samhita and Charaka Samhita. Ayurveda is also divided into eight components, they are: Kaya Chikitsa, KaumaraBhritya, Shalakya Tantra, Shalya Tantra, Bhuta Vidya, Agada Tantra, Rasayana Tantra and Vajikarana Tantra. People who practice Ayurveda strongly indicate their belief that the attainment of moral values, prosperity/money, pleasure and liberation meaning Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha is possible only with positive health of mind, body and soul.
Yoga and naturopathy
It is a form of alternative medicine that helps the body heal itself using the power of nature. Its main concept is the use of the five elements of nature, which are Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Be. Its therapies include acupuncture, physiotherapy, mud therapy, fasting, hydrotherapy, yoga, etc. Over time, yoga has gained popularity worldwide and ranks among the best techniques for achieving a state of grief anxiety. and sorrows and became part of a healthy lifestyle. One of the main advantages of yoga is that it can be practiced by anyone from different walks of life, regardless of age and state of well-being. Yoga is an ancient technique that originated in India and focuses on the physical, mental and spiritual health of a person through meditation and exercise. It was mainly supported by the saints of Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. It is an effective way to keep your body healthy without the damage of drugs or antibiotics.
Unani
Derived from the word "Yunani" meaning Greek. This is a form of the traditional medicine practiced during the Mughal era and also now even popular in many Muslim countries in South Asia. This Persian Arabic system of the medicine was taught by the Greek physicians Hippocrates and the Galen. Its concept is totally based on the four elements which are: phlegm (balgham), blood (dam), yellow bile (Safra) and black bile (Sauda). Practitioners of Unani Medicines firmly believe that the treatment of any disease depends on the diagnosis of the disease concerned. It is based on the types of symptoms a person exhibits.
Siddha
This system of medicine is prevalent in South India. This concept of the medicine believes in healing not only the body but the mind and soul. The term "Siddha" is derived from the Tamil word "Siddhi" which means "perfection". The 'Siddharas' who hail mainly from Tamil Nadu laid the foundation for Siddha medicine. They were spiritual masters who were said to have spiritual powers or 'Ashta Siddhis'. The Siddha concept believes in rejuvenating dysfunctional organs that cause disease. Practitioners of siddha medicine strongly believe that the type of lifestyle one lives plays a major role in curing any disease. It is entirely based on the "do's and don'ts" of certain things related to an individual's standard of living.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy believes in the concept that the body can heal itself. They only stimulate the healing process. Homeopathy has its roots in Germany and developed in the late 18th century. Samuel Hahnemann is the originator of homeopathy. Homeopathy believes that any element that causes symptoms in a healthy individual, when ingested in small doses, is capable of treating a symptom of a disease with similar symptoms, thus triggering the body's natural defense system. The body thus becomes able to heal itself. Majority of the society uses homeopathic medicines to treat various long-term ailments like allergy, intestinal syndrome or arthritis etc. On an average, homeopathic medicines take longer time to cure any disease. Its effect can be seen in a day or two, but recovery takes due time.
