Full form of AYUSH

Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy is the full form of AYUSH. This is a ministry that deals with education, development of the Alternative Medicine System. In 1995, the Department of Indian Medicines and Homeopathy (ISM&H) was established in the Union Ministry of Health and Welfare with a focus on developing these systems.

In 2003, this department was renamed as Department of AYUSH. The Ministry of AYUSH promotes a healthy lifestyle and believes in the concept of disease prevention and follows the practice of natural healing. This is the ministry that also comes under the Indian system of medicines. The idea of ??AYUSH is to introduce various concepts to people including their acronym meaning which leads to reduction of diseases and increase in well-being of mental, physical and spiritual health of people.

There has been a remarkable increase in the knowledge and treatments carried out by biomedicals following their successful experiments. Researches have been done on various diseases along with their symptoms, causes and treatment. Treatment is increasingly advanced and effective for diseases that have a long-term and risky nature, but on the other hand, there is a significant increase in diseases that are non-infectious in nature. AYUSH medicines which are tested from time to time are effective as well as cost effective. Their experiments yielded successful results. They are as effective as Bio Medicines for diseases that are long term or risky. Over time, AYUSH Medicines have carved out a prominent position in the healthcare industry across the globe. People are more and more inclined towards its concept and understanding.

Institution under Ministry of AYUSH

There are various institutions under the Ministry of AYUSH operating in different places in India. Some of the major institutes include All India Institute of Ayurveda, Morarji Desai National Institution of Yoga (MDNIY) and Rashtriya Ayurved Vidyapith (RAV) in New Delhi, National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) in Jaipur, National Institute of Siddha (NIS) in Chennai , National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH) in Kolkata, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) in Shillong, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) in Bengaluru, North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) in Pasighat, National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) in Pune and finally the Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (IPGTRA) in Jamnagar.

Ayurveda

As the name suggests, Ayurveda means the understanding of life and longevity. The Ayurveda system has its roots in Vedic times. This system follows a completely herbal method of healing and over time has gained a lot of attention around the world. In Sanskrit, the term Ayurveda means "science of life". This science has existed in India for more than the 5000 years. The medical techniques of Ayurveda are believed to have been passed down from the heavenly gods to mankind and are still valued as of utmost importance in the field of medical science and medicine. The two main Samhitas on which the Ayurveda is based are Sushruta Samhita and Charaka Samhita. Ayurveda is also divided into eight components, they are: Kaya Chikitsa, KaumaraBhritya, Shalakya Tantra, Shalya Tantra, Bhuta Vidya, Agada Tantra, Rasayana Tantra and Vajikarana Tantra. People who practice Ayurveda strongly indicate their belief that the attainment of moral values, prosperity/money, pleasure and liberation meaning Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha is possible only with positive health of mind, body and soul.

Yoga and naturopathy

It is a form of alternative medicine that helps the body heal itself using the power of nature. Its main concept is the use of the five elements of nature, which are Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Be. Its therapies include acupuncture, physiotherapy, mud therapy, fasting, hydrotherapy, yoga, etc. Over time, yoga has gained popularity worldwide and ranks among the best techniques for achieving a state of grief anxiety. and sorrows and became part of a healthy lifestyle. One of the main advantages of yoga is that it can be practiced by anyone from different walks of life, regardless of age and state of well-being. Yoga is an ancient technique that originated in India and focuses on the physical, mental and spiritual health of a person through meditation and exercise. It was mainly supported by the saints of Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. It is an effective way to keep your body healthy without the damage of drugs or antibiotics.

Unani

Derived from the word "Yunani" meaning Greek. This is a form of the traditional medicine practiced during the Mughal era and also now even popular in many Muslim countries in South Asia. This Persian Arabic system of the medicine was taught by the Greek physicians Hippocrates and the Galen. Its concept is totally based on the four elements which are: phlegm (balgham), blood (dam), yellow bile (Safra) and black bile (Sauda). Practitioners of Unani Medicines firmly believe that the treatment of any disease depends on the diagnosis of the disease concerned. It is based on the types of symptoms a person exhibits.

Siddha

This system of medicine is prevalent in South India. This concept of the medicine believes in healing not only the body but the mind and soul. The term "Siddha" is derived from the Tamil word "Siddhi" which means "perfection". The 'Siddharas' who hail mainly from Tamil Nadu laid the foundation for Siddha medicine. They were spiritual masters who were said to have spiritual powers or 'Ashta Siddhis'. The Siddha concept believes in rejuvenating dysfunctional organs that cause disease. Practitioners of siddha medicine strongly believe that the type of lifestyle one lives plays a major role in curing any disease. It is entirely based on the "do's and don'ts" of certain things related to an individual's standard of living.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy believes in the concept that the body can heal itself. They only stimulate the healing process. Homeopathy has its roots in Germany and developed in the late 18th century. Samuel Hahnemann is the originator of homeopathy. Homeopathy believes that any element that causes symptoms in a healthy individual, when ingested in small doses, is capable of treating a symptom of a disease with similar symptoms, thus triggering the body's natural defense system. The body thus becomes able to heal itself. Majority of the society uses homeopathic medicines to treat various long-term ailments like allergy, intestinal syndrome or arthritis etc. On an average, homeopathic medicines take longer time to cure any disease. Its effect can be seen in a day or two, but recovery takes due time.
