Full form of CSC

The full form of CSC is "Common Service Center". It is an information and communication technology access point created by the government. India for the people of rural areas. It was created under the National e-Governance Project of the Government of India. This project was launched in 2006. It was financed and implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP).

CSC is like a kiosk with a personal computer, wireless connection, and other accessories. Provides content related to e-governance, health, education, telemedicine, and more. A PAN India network was introduced to make India a digital country under the Digital India program. It is one of the largest government-approved online service channels in the world.

How does CSC works?

It is an e-Governance service in which a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) connects the rural population with the government. Department, private, and govt. banks and other service providers such as insurance companies, institutions, and others. The VLE (Village Level Entrepreneur) works from CSC to serve the users.

  • Facilitate G2C communication related to the education, health, social and economic development, agriculture, RTI, disaster warning and others.
  • Dissemination of information through the interactive kiosks, regional language interfaces, etc.
  • Edutainment, in which people learn through entertaining, educational videos, group interaction, etc.
  • eGovernance & eServices include eCrisis, banking, travel, insurance, post and electronic form filling facilities for government administration. services and financial assistance like payment for NREGA etc.
  • To provide facilities of remote health camps, telemedicine, medical boards etc.
  • To offer online farming support to help farmers increase their yields and income.
  • Rural BPOs to clear doubts of rural people about the government. schemes, agricultural techniques and more.
