Full form of CPT

The full form of the CPT is the “Common Proficiency Test”. It is an entrance examination conducted for admission to the Charted Accountancy course by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. It is also recognized as a CA-CPT. Becoming a member of the ICAI (Institute of Charted Accountants of India) is a mandatory exam.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A candidate who has cleared the 10th class may enroll themself in the Institute of Charted Accountants of India.
  • But if the candidate wishes to participate in the CPT test, he must complete at least the 12th level or equivalent study in a recognized university.
  • The CA CPT registration charge & tuition charges are submitted during the filled application form submission.
  • The payment for the application form can be downloaded from the www.icai.org.

Information about the CPT examination

In the month of June & December, CPT is usually performed. Commerce graduates are exempted from the CPT, including other graduates and post-graduates. Get the direct entry into the IPCC, the second level of Chartered Accountancy (CA) Exams, and they only need to have the appropriate score percentage.

CPT Course Subjects

The main subjects in the CPT Course you must prepare are mentioned below-

  • General Economics
  • Fundamental of Accountancy
  • Mercantile Law
  • Quantitative Aptitude

Document required 

  • Candidates must submit the following documents for CPT exam registration:
  • Candidate’s birth certificate 
  • An attested copy of admit card, pass certificate, and mark sheet of Class 10 approved by the gazette officer or head of the institute 
  • An attested copy of admit card, pass certificate, and mark sheet of Class 12 approved by the gazette officer or head of the institute 
  • Citizenship proof for a foreign applicant
  • Residency proof like an aadhar card, voter card, driving license
  • Caste proof (Applicable for specially-abled people, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, and Other Backward Caste).
